What I Learnt From Walking Away From a Mainstream Publisher

Body Zero – Radical Preparation For the Return of Christ” has been out for almost one month now. It’s been an exhausting and exhilarating month of social media, events, packaging, daily trips to the Post Office and…a gradual easing into rest.

As though the finest cut of meat has been grilled, released from the fire and now sitting under a tin-foil canopy unto something like imperfect perfection, my very best is just being served as Body Zero does the rounds. Here’s what I learnt:

My Heart Notes: Leviticus Chapter One

Hello! My name is Mairi, the face behind My Heart Notes 😀

Last summer I knew that I needed to spend more time praying and reading the Bible as I really felt that my emphasis on the importance of the Bible wasn’t matched by my own lifestyle. So I found a plan, a journaling Bible and set the alarm a bit earlier.

But I also wanted to study the Bible and not just read it, so I tried to find a resource that would integrate note-taking within my Bible. When I couldn’t find what I was looking for, I felt God say, “you do it.” And so I began my wee plan for producing some Bible-study videos.

Tonight the first one goes live and I would love us to study the Word together – to share what God says with each other! So if you’re interested, all you need is your Bible and your favourite highlighters.

How We Have Fallen

What would dear Horatius have written had he lived in 2017?

We’ll chat one day.

“Man is now thinking out a Bible for himself; framing a religion in harmony with the development of liberal thought; constructing a worship on the principles of taste and culture; shaping a god to suit the expanding aspirations of the age…The extent of the mischief no one can calculate. A soul without faith, a church without faith, a nation without faith, a world without faith – what is to be their future? What is their present? When faith goes, all good things go. When unbelief comes in, all evil things follow.” (more…)

We Are Gomer

This is the seventh and final post that I’m going to do on the book of Hosea. But seventh in the series though it may be, I want to treat it as though it is the first and the last.

Layered over the timeless theology of this minor Prophet’s book, and this series, has been a certain amount of poetic thought. I hope it’s been clear; I hope it’s been helpful.

But, in just a few paragraphs, what is the message of Hosea? (more…)

Mr Cameron, Please Take Note

According to PM David Cameron in his 2015 Easter speech that most of us have heard, the UK remains a Christian country because the government help to repair Cathedrals and older church buildings that, supposedly, represent the ‘living active force’ who are the local church.

Mr Cameron also pointed to the phenomenal welfare efforts of the church in specific terms of homelessness and poverty relief.

Spotlight on this Living Active Force

Here are just two specific examples of this living active Christian force that meet many needs in our fractured society but who are not necessarily synonymous with Cathedrals or dilapidated church buildings. (more…)

Our Soul Aim

Hurtling as we are towards the bridge between the end of one year and the beginning of yet another new one, our “reflective, creative, dreaming” hat is firmly in place.

As just one part of this, clarifying our ‘soul aim’ will help us to help you as much as possible.

So, what is the soul aim of Firebrand Notes? Quite simply, to:

“Help every viewer to love Jesus as they should

We have some mega news coming up in the New Year about our latest media resource that, more than two years in the making, promises to smash up any form of spiritual boredom or apathy or confusion or illiteracy about how to live an effectively Jesus-riveted life for the glory of God.

  • Do you have a smart phone?
  • Do you love crisp, digital media?
  • Do you want to live for the glory of God?
  • Do you want to be as fruitful as you’re supposed to be?
  • Do you want to help people to grow in faith?
  • Do you want to read Matthew 28 and have inner peace that you’re doing what Jesus wants you to be doing?

It’s our soul aim this coming year to help you ‘tick’ each of these ‘bullets’ as your next 12 months begin to unfold towards another ‘year wiser’…all by awesome design not lazy default.

We’re praying that we’d all learn to love as we should

Would you be up for tracking with us?
