During times of corporate or private worship, song-writing, prayer and even rehearsals, I’m always on the look-out for ‘grace notes’. I’m on the look out for them because they are keys for moments when it’s as if there is a special deposit of anointing available, His presence, for the purpose of the moment that isContinue reading “Grace Notes”

Nearing Nephology
In that moment I had to slow down, concentrate, listen more carefully (for traffic on the road) and have much more respect for my surroundings that had now over-shadowed me. The normal bias of my senses had chnaged – I was now relying not so much on what I could see, but what I could hear
Dark Are We Yet Lovely #2
The post yesterday tried to shine a spot-light on the nature of God as an affectionate Lover of His people and the difference between this reality and the notion that God loves us only because He loves us unconditionally, as though we weren’t lovable to Him. Of course, our standing before Him is both transactionalContinue reading “Dark Are We Yet Lovely #2”
Dark Are We Yet Lovely
I was at a friend’s house over the weekend for breakfast and afterwards watched his little 4-year old boy plumb the depths of despair and rise to the heights of elation, back and forth, in literally less than a second. His roller-coaster emotions depended entirely on the pressure of water coming from the water hoseContinue reading “Dark Are We Yet Lovely”

Ultimately, because it is true that marriage is first a theological reality, and therefore a God-given one, the issue of the morality around the proposed redefinition is absolutely key. How deeply to do you feel troubled about this?
Screwtape’s Law of Undulation
Screwtape is a senior demon and his nephew, Wormwood, is a junior tempter. The Screwtape Letters by C S Lewis is an apologetic work that seeks to mock the devil by satirising his methods in tempting and limiting Christians in their relationship with God. It’s a series of letters between the two demons. It’s anContinue reading “Screwtape’s Law of Undulation”
Easter Paradidomi – Why is Good Friday good?
I’m colour blind – i.e. I can’t always discern between shades of brown and red and green. This means very little to me except that I can’t be an RAF pilot or a bomb disposal expert. It also means that I occasionally foul in snooker by playing a brown by mistake. And it means thatContinue reading “Easter Paradidomi – Why is Good Friday good?”
