Some Christians struggle with a settled sense of assurance more than others, though we all struggle with this in some ways. It is the fruit of a genuinely redeemed person to be in awe not in presumption. I trust that this brief video overview of J. C. Ryle’s superb chapter on the subject will bring you a seep sense of comfort and point you to the unchanging Word of God.

The Wife of Youth
The wife of youth, that wants her husband some years, and expects he shall return to her from over-sea lands, is often on the shore; every ship coming near shore is her new joy; her heart loves the wind that shall bring him home. She asks at every passenger news: ” Oh! saw ye my husband? What is he doing? When shall he come? Is he shipped for a return?” Every ship that carrieth not her husband, is the breaking of her heart

Testing the spirits
Following my statement about Chris Wickland last week, (for whom we are praying), please let me steer you in the direction of two pieces of helpful content…
A Statement Concerning Pastor Chris Wickland
Nick Franks expresses deep concern about Chris Wickland’s “prophetic” ministry, labeling it as harmful and unfit for leadership. Franks recounts his attempts to communicate his objections directly to Wickland, emphasizing the importance of discernment within the Church. He calls for Wickland’s resignation and urges the Body of Christ to evaluate these issues.
A Prayer of Emergency
You’ll probably want to grab your Bible and a pen for this video. What do we pray in an emergency…not so much a geo-political emergency but a spiritual emergency as seen by the pandemic of Christian leaders who fail to think and pray like Ezra, Nehemiah and Daniel?
Please spend a few minutes with me considering the main themes of Ezra, Nehemiah and Daniel chapter 9 and a prayer of emergency for the glory of The Holy One of Israel and his wayward people.
God Closed Church
In a bold yet contentious assertion, this book claims that God Himself shuttered churches in 2020 due to widespread spiritual infidelity among His followers. It calls for a radical return to biblical doctrine and faithful preparation for Christ’s return, highlighting a small, aware remnant amidst the indifferent masses.
Peacetime Church in Wartime World 🍎
This week, Mairi and I enjoyed the beauty of stunning gardens while picking apples and filming a podcast about the Church’s evolution since March 2020. We’ll explore contrasting views and share insights from an upcoming ebook titled “God Closed Church.” Check out the YouTube preview!
I would rather die
“Elijah and other men of God in the OT who with radicality and severity — to the dismay of entire generations — made their appearance and to many seemed to be subverters. Enthusiasts do not arise on their own initiative. They think of themselves as called and ordained for their service, which excludes all purely personal interests. An intolerable burden rests upon them.” (Hans-Joachim Kraus)
Good friends of mine — good men — as well as the ‘bad figs’ in the Church whose error goes before them, (1 Timothy 5:24), think that I am wrong, that God didn’t close the Church en masse as an act of judgment, such is our spiritual whoredom.
Had the Holy Spirit not primed my heart to publicly call for such in January 2020 (before any sign of church closures being imaginable) perhaps I would be swayed.
But the LORD has spoken to my heart and far be it from me to deny that…I would rather die.
Why Church Leaders Rage…
“…if one’s appeal for moving on with the Lord seems to people to involve their having to move away from this or that or some other thing, then there is warfare; which shows that Satan in his eternal campaign of idolatry, has got a footing amongst Christians in relation to things which take the place of the Lord Himself. And you find, if you are spiritually sensitive, that you are not just encountering the established institutions, but you are encountering a terrific spiritual force.”
Turn with me to Jeremiah 24 and consider the basket cases of today’s Church leaders…
