Advice for New Christians | Born into the Apostate Church

“Hi Nick, I’m a pretty new Christian and fell right into cessationist theology. This video is making me question everything but I don’t know where to begin. I’m wondering what denomination are you in? I’m feeling called to find a new Church…”

A new Christian asked me a very good question on my last video whilst expressing their state of being overwhelmed at the apostate chaos of the Church. These are some of my prayerful thoughts in response.

Examining Cessationist Theology

According to “The Charismatic Illusion”, written by Peter Masters (2016), I am a proponent of cultic belief and practice because I do not believe that the Bible teaches that the gifts of the Holy Spirit ceased at the end of the first century. Masters has been the Minister of the Metropolitan Tabernacle church in London since 1970 and yet, as I will explain, is pedalling profound deception himself.

Please grab your Bible, a notebook and pen and follow prayerfully with my reading of Master’s book and ask yourself whether or not you’re the kind of person who would quietly get on with eating a cold bowl of soup for fear of creating a fuss. A great fuss needs to be made because this cold slop is covering the entire table!

The Demonic Deception of Catholicism

Is it consistent with biblical theology to claim that, on occasion, only The Rosary will rid our homes of demonic nuisances? This is precisely what the former Chaplain to the late Queen Elizabeth, Gavin Ashenden, claimed in his conversation with me. But spiritual leaders in God’s house are required not to be likeable but rather faithful to Scripture.

The Alpha Course — Nicky Gumbel’s Anti-Reformation Legacy

PodVlog Episode #3, discussing Nicky Gumbel’s #AlphaCourse, is from the world-famous Dunnottar Castle followed by a detour in from the wind to a coffee shop, (we resisted the delicious cakes on offer).

The conversation today follows on from Nick’s more in-depth podcast a few days ago in which the sobering reality of Billy Graham and John Stott’s Lausanne “covenant” was exposed for what it is.

You can listen to it here: https://podcast.firebrandnotes.com/900157/14838902-looking-back-at-lausanne-1974-2024-50-years-of-false-covenant

One of the chapters of Dr. ES Williams’ book featured in that conversation covers Nicky Gumbel’s ecumenical Alpha Course. 😭

Looking Back at Lausanne (1974-2024): 50 Years of False Covenant

This important episode of Into the Pray features the disturbing details (including lack thereof) of the Lausanne “Covenant” and Movement that’s followed since 1974.

The late Billy Graham and John Stott believed that “fundamentalists” were sinful in their “individualism”…but was this true and is this true today?

Our Podcast | From A Beach Cafe

The “Into the Pray” podcast lands this week in a new “on the run” vlog-form. Please let us know in the comments section if you like it!

Episode #1 is from a very blustery Scottish beach in bright sunshine, taking shelter in a warm cafe with excellent coffee, (we resisted the delicious cakes on offer).

Our conversation this week is to get us all to think about the spiritual climate that we’re all living within — ie that the multiplicity of different Christian doctrines and denominations that are tolerated (and even celebrated) equate to nothing other than deep spiritual sickness and spawning false gospels.
