Dreams morphing into reality #LFC
England vs Spain
I must confess, this wasn’t my idea; but it is a great thought and I wanted to develop it a bit.
The Wonder Of It All
Here are some snaps of our Paper Anniversary jaunt from Inverbervie, through the Cairngorns, to Loch Ness – awesome!
I dedicate this to Mairi who is the biggest wonder in all of this.
Thank you to Mum and Dad who have loved and supported us this year more than we can tell and for accepting us as we are. We love you!
People say that the first year of marriage is hard in getting used to living with someone, sleeping with someone, preferring someone else to your own selfish empire. But Mairi is a constant joy for me: she puts up with my grumpiness and all my quirks; she is easy to be with all the time; she loves me for who I am; she makes me feel strong and encourages me to be who I am in Him. And she is a foxy lady. Such favour from Jesus.
A Mental Note To Self.
Pray More Worry Less – a great blog to read this Thursday afternoon!
I’ve felt this way before…
The day I discovered that I’d had my offer received on the first flat I bought…
The morning I awkwardly paced around my bedroom tied to the phone socket by a cable trying to pluck up the courage to ask my now Father in Law for his daughter’s hand in marriage…
The night we came in above the orange glow of San Francisco as newly weds and I suddenly felt the enormity of what it was to love and look after my best friend whatever may befall – for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health till death do us part…
The first evening at home with our first child, tired, excited and scared witless at the dawning realisation that we could no longer press a “call” button and summon a nurse…
Yesterday I drove Davina the camper-van back from the coach works. She’s passed…

Priority Seating
I was sat in a bus heading into the City this week but not in any old seat; I was sat in a priority seat for those less able to stand than others. The bus had pulled up to a stop and a mother outside with a pram was struggling to see a free seat on the bus for her to come on for.Continue reading “Priority Seating”

What Jesus Would Say About Marriage if He Appeared on the BBC’s Question Time Panel

Why Bother Writing?
The main purpose of this article is to empower Christians to be able to think about the philosophies of our modern culture that produce the anti-Christian atmosphere hanging over virtually every tabloid and headline. It is also to empower expression as to why the proposed (so-called) ‘redefinition of marriage’ is absolutely wrong.

The Bible tells us to ‘take captive every thought that sets itself up against the knowledge of God and make it obedient to Christ” (2 Cor.10:5)
Do you ever look at your email inbox and ignore a whole bunch of emails because they’re not important to you – you can tell by looking at the sender or subject title? Well, you may ignore them, as I do, but they still clog up your inbox – they still encroach in your world and demand some form of attention.
David’s Polydipsia
We all know that the more yellow the colour of our urine the more dehydrated we are and if our wee is clearer things inside our body are generally better. Continue reading “David’s Polydipsia”
Some thoughts on Jeremiah
For those of you who wondered why Jeremiah was so sad – my friend Andy does a great job here of summarising True Word for Tough Times by Dale Ralph Davis
Jeremiah has got a bit of a bad reputation – of being long (52 chapters), convoluted (not in chronological order) and depressing (‘Jeremiah’ in the dictionary is ‘a dismal prophet, a denouncer of the times’). But I’m really starting to get into Jeremiah, helped by Dale Ralph Davis’ great little book (a collection of sermons) True Word for Tough Times.
Here are some thoughts, largely taken from DRD:
- The Word of God is the big theme. The first chapter is key in introducing the theme and particularly 3 aspects that will be carried throughout the book:
- The-Word-of-the-Lord as a person who interacts with Jeremiah (‘the Word of the LORD came to me saying’, ‘put out his hand and touched my mouth’);
- the Word in Jeremiah’s mouth intended to destroy (66% emphasis) and then bring hope (“Verse 10 is the key verse of the prophecy of Jeremiah. As you…
