Mairi and I have been using Fitness Blender’s website for over a year now. Mairi is much better at following their HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) routines at home than I am – I need a gym or a class or a pool to be motivated – but their eating plans are fantastic if you want to lean up.

Here is a link to their website and here’s another to their weight loss programmes

Key benefits:

1) Weight Loss

2) Improved Sleep

3) Reduced Stress/High Blood Pressure

4) Reduced Cholesterol

5) Increased Muscular Strength

6) Sustainable – with ‘cheat days’ incorporated

We’ve seen lots of naff exercise and ‘diet’ plans in the last few years, ranging from 500 kcal a day regimes to 3 days fasting, 3 days eating cycles. It’s madness. This will mess up your Basal Metabollic Rate (BMR) and, in some cases, promote weight gain, not loss.

I recommend talking to your GP/Dietician if you are concerned about your weight and to also enquire about some input from an exercise professional registered with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) if you struggle with motivation or medical conditions that make changing your exercise and nutrition difficult.

Motivational Fact: As Bear Grylls says, a healthy lifestyle is weighted towards 75% nutrition and 25% physical exercise.

Hope this helps you lean up for the coming Autumn season!
